Jakarta Library and Archive Agency, Monday (5/6), announced the winner of Senior High School Library Competition 2024. The announcement was held at National Library Auditorium Building, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Gambir, Central Jakarta.

Jakarta Library and Archive Agency Head, Suryanto, said the winner will represent Jakarta at similar competition for national level in June 2024.

He added that Jakarta representatives in 2023 and 2021 won the competition.

"We hope the same achievement can be gained again," he said.

According to Suryanto, this competition activity is an effort to strengthen the role of libraries in schools in improving literacy skills, stimulating creativity and creating a conducive learning environment.

The participants of the high school level library competition in Jakarta was a result of competition activities at the city level. Prior to this, school visitation activities were also carried out on April 22-24 2024 by the jury.

Jury Head, Woro Titi Haryanti, explained that there were several aspects assessed in this competition, including book collections and library programs, school support, student participation and integration with teaching and learning activities (KBM) in schools.

"All competition participants currently have national school library standard A certification," she stated.

From the results of the visitation and assessment process, Woro explained, his party decided that SMAN 78 was the first winner, SMA Prestasi Prima was the second winner, SMAN 1 was the third winner. Then, SMAN 8 was the 1st runner up and Al Azhar Islamic High School Kelapa Gading was the 2nd runner up.

"We hope that school libraries that become champions will continue to be improved. So it can be a reference library for other schools," she hoped.
